Philip Hurst

National Development Manager - Health Age Concern and Help the Aged

Philip works for Age Concern and Help the Aged in a role which combines both influencing national health policy and interpreting policy on health services as it relates to older people and to local Age Concern organisations. Current major themes include mental health and well-being in later life, implementation of the end of life care strategy, and development of the prevention package for older people. Philip supported the independent UK Inquiry into mental health and well-being in later life from its inception in late 2003 to its final report in the summer of 2007 (www.mhilli.org).  Before joining Age Concern England in 2003, Philip worked in the NHS in a range of management positions in and around London, latterly as a commissioner of services.

Age Concern England and Help the Aged have joined together to form Age UK, a single charity dedicated to improving the lives of older people.

“My involvement in the ACOOP Partnership Group is to provide a national perspective to the project and to act as a conduit between the project and Age Concern and Help the Aged”.
