Title:   Art Exhibition Volunteer
 
Role Purpose: To promote ACOOP’s work in the Devon Prison Cluster by giving the prisoners the opportunity to exhibit their art work and express a positive quality to the public.
Aim: To producing 20 pieces of art work to be exhibited in the Devon Prison Cluster Art Exhibition 2010.
The Volunteer is responsible for working with prisoners aged 50+, prison staff, other volunteers as appropriate and the ACOOP Volunteer and Healthy Living Coordinator to assist in the production of art work to a standard that will promote the talent and skills of older prisoners in the Devon Prison Cluster
Responsible to:   ACOOP Volunteer and Healthy Living Coordinator
Responsible for:  Attend and contribute to the successful running of a weekly art session and to assist in organising the resulting art exhibition.
Liaison with:  Healthy Living Coordinator and other ACOOP volunteers as appropriate.
Based at:  This volunteering role can be based from home, some prison visiting may be appropriate but not essential.
Main tasks of role: 
  • Help plan and organise appropriate venues for ACOOP Devon Prison Cluster Art Exhibition 2010.
  • To coordinate exhibition tour of venues
  • To work with Volunteer and Healthy Living Coordinator to produce a simple catalogue
  • To work with Volunteer and Healthy Living Coordinator to encourage local businesses to advertise in art exhibition catalogue
  • To work with Volunteer and Healthy Living Coordinator to plan opening events
  • Contribute to systems for monitoring and evaluating activities
  • Adhere to relevant ACOOP policies and procedures such as Confidentiality Health and Safety, Equalities, boundary setting etc.
 
 Skills and qualities required for this role are:
 
·         An interest in art exhibitions in the community
·         A commitment to raise the profile of older prisoners though their art work
·         Some experience of arranging low key exhibitions desirable but not essential
·         Some IT skills and access to a computer
·         Good communications skills
 
Suggested hours
Hours to suit volunteer.
Recommended for this role – flexible with a minimum of 2 hours per week approximately
Duration
This volunteering role will continue until the Devon Prison Cluster Art Exhibition 2010 in early summer, depending on venue availability. There may, following a review, be the opportunity to continue this or a similar volunteering activity.

Terms and Conditions:
All volunteers must complete induction and training, including training provided by the Prison (if working in the prison setting on a regular basis only) and other courses as identified by and agreed with the ACOOP Volunteer and Healthy Living Coordinator.
Volunteers working in the prison setting are security checked before acceptance.
ACOOP will repay mileage at 40p per mile on production of a completed expenses claim form for travel to and from Art Exhibit Venues and other necessary meetings / places. Any other expenses must be agreed in advance and will be paid on production of receipts.

Title:   Art Group Volunteer: HMP Dartmoor
 
Role Purpose: To assist a prisoner to teach art to a group of approx 6-8 prisoners
 
Aim: To producing 15 pieces of art work to be exhibited in the Devon Prison Cluster Art Exhibition 2010.
The Volunteer is responsible for working with prisoners aged 50+, prison staff, other volunteers as appropriate and the ACOOP Volunteer and Healthy Living Coordinator to assist in the production of art work to a standard that will promote the talent and skills of older prisoners in HMP Dartmoor
Responsible to:   ACOOP Volunteer and Healthy Living Coordinator
 
Responsible for:  Attending and contributing to the successful running of an art session with a group of interested prisoners.
 
Liaison with: Social Inclusion and Disability prison officer, ACOOP Volunteer and Healthy Living Coordinator and other ACOOP volunteers as appropriate.
Based at:  HMP Dartmoor 
 
Main tasks of role: 
  • Develop a friendly and constructive setting for a regular art session with older prisoners
  • Assist an identified artistic prisoner to teach art to fellow inmates
  • Assist and encourage prisoners in the group to produce art work
  • Contribute to systems for monitoring and evaluating activities
  • Adhere to relevant ACOOP policies and procedures such as Confidentiality Health and Safety, Equalities, Boundary Setting etc.
 Skills and qualities required for this role are:
 
·         An interest in art and encouraging creativity
·         A liking for and empathy with older people
·         A commitment to raise the profile of older prisoners through art
·         Good communications skills
·         Positive attitude to life
·         A flexible approach when responding to a variety of situations
·         Non judgemental
·         Reliability

9.00 -11.00am             or         02.00 – 4.00pm          or         6.00 – 7.30pm
 
Duration
 
It is hoped that the art group will be ongoing.

Title:   Art and Craft Group Volunteer: HMP Dartmoor
 
Aim: To introduce an art and craft creative workshop session.
 
Role Purpose: To introduce prisoners aged 50+ to art and craft activities by facilitate a one hour session once a week for a group of approx 6-8 prisoners.
 
Responsible to:   ACOOP Volunteer and Healthy Living Coordinator
 
Responsible for:  Introducing simple art and craftactivities and encouraging the participation of prisoners.
 
Liaison with: Social Inclusion and Disability prison officer, ACOOP Volunteer and Healthy Living Coordinator and other ACOOP volunteers as appropriate.
 
Based at:  Dartmoor Prison 
 
Main tasks of role: 
  • Develop a friendly and constructive setting for a small weekly art and craft group with older prisoners
  • Introduce simple art and craft ideas to the group
  • Encourage prisoners to ‘have a go’
  • Contribute to systems for monitoring and evaluating activities.
  • Adhere to relevant ACOOP policies and procedures such as Confidentiality, Health and Safety, Equalities, boundary setting etc.
 Skills and qualities required for this role are:
 
·         An interest in art and craft and encouraging creativity
·         Ability to instruct in simple craft techniques
·         A liking for and empathy with older people
·         Non judgemental
·         Reliability
·         Good communications skills

9.00 -11.00am             or         02.00 – 4.00pm          or         6.00 – 7.30pm
 
Duration
This volunteering role will be reviewed after each 6 week period and is hoped to continue to be offered whilst prisoners are benefiting from art and craft activities.
